Alphagan Eye Drops 5ml

Alphagan Eye Drops are used for the following:

• Lowering high pressure in the eye
• Managing open-angle glaucoma
• Treating ocular hypertension
• Preventing optic nerve damage
• Reducing the risk of vision loss
• Slowing the progression of glaucoma
• Balancing fluid production in the eye
• Improving fluid drainage from the eye
• Maintaining healthy eye pressure levels
• Supporting long-term eye health in glaucoma patients

Follow these instructions while taking

• Wash your hands thoroughly before instilling the drops.
• Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
• Hold the bottle with the tip pointing downwards and squeeze one drop into the pocket.
• Close your eyes and press your finger against the inner corner for 1-2 minutes.
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination.
• If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting.
• Consult your doctor for specific advice.

Alphagan Eye Drops are instilled topically.

Alphagan Eye Drops contains two components:

• Brimonidine (0.2%): This active ingredient works by stimulating special receptors called alpha-2 adrenergic receptors in the eye. This action reduces the production of aqueous humour (the clear fluid that fills the front part of the eye) and increases the outflow of this fluid through alternative drainage pathways.
• Benzalkonium Chloride (0.005%): This ingredient serves as a preservative in the eye drop solution. It prevents the growth of harmful microorganisms that could contaminate the solution and potentially cause eye infections.

• Keep Alphagan Eye Drops at room temperature.
• Store the bottle tightly closed and protect it from light.
• Avoid exposing the eye drops to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
• Do not use the eye drops after the expiry date printed on the bottle.

• If you have glaucoma or high eye pressure (ocular hypertension), limit caffeine intake from coffee, tea, and energy drinks as these can temporarily increase intraocular pressure.
• Regular aerobic exercise like brisk walking for 20-30 minutes daily may help reduce intraocular pressure and improve blood flow to the optic nerve.
