Adipam 25 Mg Injection 20 Ml is used as an emergency treatment for poisoning by organophosphates, which are found in many pesticides and insecticides. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing pralidoxime, which belongs to a class of medicines called cholinesterase reactivators (oximes).
This medicine is also used to treat overdose of certain medicines used for myasthenia gravis. It is given together with atropine and other supportive care, and works best when started as soon as possible after poisoning. It helps restore normal muscle function, including the muscles used for breathing. It is given in hospital by a healthcare professional as a slow injection or drip into a vein, and your doctor will decide the dose.
Pesticides should be stored in their original containers, locked away from children and food. Wearing gloves, a mask and protective clothing when spraying, and washing skin and clothes promptly after exposure, can help prevent poisoning.
Before treatment, tell the doctor about any kidney problems, myasthenia gravis, and other medicines the patient takes, if possible. Tell the doctor if the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding. Anyone who may have swallowed or been exposed to a pesticide should get emergency medical help straight away, even if they feel well. Do not stop the treatment unless the doctor advises you to do so."
