Acenziv 1 Tablet 10

Acenziv 1 Tablet 10 is used to prevent and manage blood clots in various conditions.

Uses of Acenziv 1 Tablet 10 are:

• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT): This medicine helps manage clots that form in the deep veins, usually in the legs, and prevents them from growing larger.
• Pulmonary embolism: It is used to manage clots that lodge in the lungs and to prevent new clots from forming.
• Atrial fibrillation: In people with an irregular heartbeat, this medicine helps prevent strokes by reducing clot formation in the heart.
• Mechanical heart valves: It prevents clots from forming on artificial heart valves.
• After a heart attack: This medicine may be used in selected patients to prevent further clotting events following a myocardial infarction (heart attack).

Follow these instructions whilst taking Acenziv 1 Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Take the tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.
• Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.
• It is important not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Acenziv 1 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Acenziv 1 Tablet 10 contains acenocoumarol (1 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Blocks vitamin K recycling: Acenocoumarol works by blocking an enzyme called vitamin K epoxide reductase in your liver. This enzyme is responsible for recycling vitamin K back to its active form after it has been used in the clotting process.
• Reduces clotting factor production: By inhibiting this enzyme, acenocoumarol reduces the regeneration of active vitamin K. This decreases the activation of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors II, VII, IX and X.
• Slows blood clotting: With lower levels of active clotting factors in your blood, your blood produces less thrombin (a key clotting protein) and clots more slowly. This helps prevent new clots from forming and stops existing clots from growing larger.

• Store below 30 degrees Celsius in a cool, dry place.

• Keep the medicine in its original packaging to protect it from moisture and light.

• Store out of sight and reach of children to prevent accidental consumption.

• Do not use the medicine after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Discard damaged or discoloured tablets properly.

• Take care to prevent injuries: Avoid activities that may cause cuts, bruises or falls. Use a soft toothbrush and take care while shaving to reduce the risk of bleeding.

• Choose foods that support healthy iron levels: Include iron-rich foods such as lentils, beans, leafy vegetables, and fortified cereals in your regular diet, particularly if you experience repeated blood loss.
