Abiratred 500 MG Tablet 60 is used for the following:

• Treatment of metastatic prostate cancer

• Management of advanced-stage prostate cancer

• Slowing down prostate cancer growth

• Reducing androgen levels in patients with cancer

• Hormonal therapy for prostate malignancy

• Suppression of testosterone in prostate cancer

Follow these instructions while taking Abiratred 500 MG Tablet 60:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

• Take your medicine at approximately the same time each day.

• Store the tablets in their original container with the lid tightly closed.

Abiratred 500 MG Tablet 60 is taken orally.

Abiratred 500 MG Tablet 60 contains abiraterone acetate (500 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits CYP17 enzyme: Abiraterone acetate blocks an enzyme called CYP17 (17α-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase) that plays a crucial role in androgen synthesis in the body.

• Reduces testosterone production: By inhibiting the CYP17 enzyme, this medicine decreases the production of testosterone and other androgens (male hormones) throughout the body, including in the testes, adrenal glands, and in the tumour tissue itself.

• Starves cancer cells: Prostate cancer cells depend on androgens for their growth and survival. By reducing these hormones, abiraterone acetate effectively "starves" the cancer cells of substances they need to grow.

• Slows tumour growth: The reduction in androgen levels helps slow down the progression of prostate cancer by preventing cancer cells from multiplying rapidly.
