UFH Injection is used to prevent and manage the formation of blood clots in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and unstable angina. It is an anticoagulant that helps keep the blood from clotting too easily, reducing the risk of serious complications.
It contains unfractionated heparin and is also used to prevent clots before certain surgeries or in those at high risk, and to treat acute blockages in the limb arteries. It is given by injection as prescribed by your doctor or healthcare team.
While receiving this medicine, avoid activities that carry a high risk of injury or bleeding, such as contact sports, and use a soft toothbrush and an electric razor to reduce the chance of bleeding gums or cuts.
Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor if you have bleeding disorders, stomach ulcers, kidney or liver problems, or take other medicines such as aspirin or blood thinners. Report unusual bleeding, bruising, black stools or blood in urine right away. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
