Travatan Ophthalmic Solution is used to lower raised pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure) in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Keeping eye pressure controlled helps protect the optic nerve and reduce the risk of permanent vision loss.
It contains travoprost, a prostaglandin analogue, which works by increasing the natural outflow of fluid from the eye. Apply it into the affected eye as prescribed. Remove contact lenses before applying and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
Attending all eye clinic follow-up appointments for regular eye pressure monitoring is an important part of managing glaucoma. Pressing gently on the inner corner of the eye after applying, and closing the eye gently, helps reduce absorption into the rest of the body.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor about any eye conditions, planned eye surgery or other eye drops you use. Long-term use may cause gradual changes in eye colour and eyelash growth; discuss these with your ophthalmologist. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
