Rybelsus 7 Mg Tablet is a tablet used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus by helping the body control blood sugar levels. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing semaglutide, and belongs to a class of medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists.
This medicine works by copying a natural hormone that stimulates the pancreas to release insulin when blood sugar is high, reduces the amount of sugar made by the liver and slows digestion, which helps control blood sugar after meals and may support gradual weight loss. Take it on an empty stomach with a small sip of water, swallow it whole, and wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking any other oral medicine.
A balanced diet and regular exercise are an important part of diabetes treatment alongside this medicine, and it should be taken consistently as prescribed to keep blood sugar stable.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe stomach or gut disorders, or a personal or family history of thyroid cancer (medullary thyroid carcinoma). Low blood sugar can occur, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, and you should seek urgent help for severe stomach pain, a lump or swelling in the neck, or signs of a serious allergic reaction such as facial swelling or trouble breathing.
