Rompag 50mg Tablet 7 is used to raise a low platelet count and reduce the risk of bleeding, in chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), in low platelets from chronic hepatitis C, and in severe aplastic anaemia that has not responded to other treatment.
It contains eltrombopag, a thrombopoietin receptor agonist. It works by prompting the bone marrow to make more platelets.
Take it on an empty stomach as prescribed, kept away from dairy products, antacids and iron or calcium supplements by several hours, as these reduce absorption. Your doctor adjusts the dose by your platelet count.
Tell your doctor about any liver problems or a history of blood clots before use. Your doctor will monitor your liver and platelet counts. Report yellowing of the skin or eyes, or signs of a clot such as leg pain, swelling or breathlessness.
