PREDNIWEL A 40 INJECTION 1ML is a medicine used to treat a wide range of conditions linked to inflammation and an overactive immune system. These include arthritis, severe allergic reactions, certain blood disorders and cancers, immune and hormone conditions, brain swelling, multiple sclerosis flare-ups, and certain skin, eye, lung, and bowel conditions.
It is a corticosteroid (glucocorticoid), which has powerful anti-inflammatory and immune-calming effects. It is given as injection by a doctor or nurse, who decides the dose based on your condition. The dose may need to be reduced gradually rather than stopped suddenly.
Because corticosteroids can affect bones, blood sugar, and the stomach, supportive measures may help. These include a diet with enough calcium and vitamin D, limiting added salt, and monitoring blood sugar if advised.
Before this medicine is given, tell your doctor about any infection, diabetes, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, or other medicines you take. Tell your doctor about signs of infection, mood changes, or muscle weakness, as this medicine can lower resistance to infection. The healthcare team will plan the dose and how long treatment lasts.
