Osedrate 35 Mg Tablet 4 is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis (weak, brittle bones), mainly in women after the menopause, and to lower the risk of fractures. It belongs to a group of medicines called bisphosphonates, which strengthen bone. It is also used to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis, to manage osteoporosis caused by long-term steroid use, and to treat Paget's disease of bone.
It is taken by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually on an empty stomach with a full glass of plain water. Stay upright (sitting or standing) and do not eat or lie down for at least 30 minutes afterwards, as this helps the medicine work and protects the food pipe.
Adequate calcium and vitamin D, as advised by your doctor, support bone health alongside this medicine.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any kidney problems, low blood calcium, or problems with the food pipe (oesophagus), and any other medicines you take.
