Melphaz 2 MG Tablet 25 is used for the following:

• Treatment of multiple myeloma

• Management of advanced ovarian cancer

• Therapy for advanced breast cancer

• Control of cancerous plasma cell growth

• Suppression of cancer cell multiplication

• Management of cancers resistant to other therapies

Follow these instructions while taking Melphaz 2 MG Tablet 25:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Take this medicine on an empty stomach, either one hour before or two hours after meals.

• Avoid crushing, breaking, or chewing the tablet.

• Handle the tablets with clean, dry hands.

• Take the medicine at the same time each day.

Melphaz 2 MG Tablet 25 is taken orally.

Melphaz 2 MG Tablet 25 contains melphalan (2 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• DNA Cross-linking: Melphalan attaches alkyl groups to DNA bases in rapidly dividing cells, forming cross-links between DNA strands. This prevents cancer cells from properly replicating their genetic material.

• Cell Division Disruption: By interfering with the DNA replication process, melphalan disrupts the normal cell division cycle, preventing cancer cells from multiplying.

• Cell Death Induction: The damage to DNA caused by melphalan eventually leads to cell death, particularly affecting cancer cells due to their rapid multiplication rate.

• Selective Targeting: While melphalan affects all rapidly dividing cells, its effects are more pronounced in cancerous cells which typically divide more quickly than most healthy cells.

• Store Melphaz 2 MG Tablet 25 in a cool, dry place.

• Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Store in the original container with the lid tightly closed.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Dispose of unused medicine following local guidelines.

• Avoid contact with people who have infections, particularly during treatment periods when your white blood cell count may be lower, reducing your body's ability to fight infections.
