Medasa Granules 2gm is a medicine used to treat mild to moderately active ulcerative colitis in adults. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing mesalazine, and belongs to a class of medicines called aminosalicylates.
This medicine works by acting on the lining of the intestine to reduce inflammation, which helps control flare-ups and keep the condition under control. Place the granules on your tongue and swallow them with a drink without chewing, exactly as directed by your doctor. Continue the full course as prescribed, even if your symptoms improve.
Eating smaller, more frequent meals, staying well hydrated, and identifying and avoiding foods that trigger your symptoms can help manage ulcerative colitis alongside this medicine. Your doctor may also advise dietary changes during flare-ups.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, or known allergies to aspirin or related medicines. Your doctor may check your kidney function from time to time. Seek urgent help for unusual bruising or bleeding, a persistent sore throat, or fever.
