CompositionLofh 5000 Injection 5ml is a medicine used to prevent and treat blood clots. It is used for clots in the veins (venous thromboembolism), including clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and lungs (pulmonary embolism), and to prevent clots during and after surgery.
It belongs to a group of medicines called anticoagulants, often called blood thinners, which reduce the blood's tendency to clot. It is also used in chest pain from heart artery disease, severe artery blockages in the legs, and to prevent clots in the heart after a heart attack. It is given as injection by a doctor or nurse, who monitors your treatment.
Because it makes bleeding more likely, simple precautions help. These include taking care to avoid cuts and injuries and telling any healthcare professional that you are on a blood thinner.
Before this medicine is given, tell your doctor about any bleeding problems, recent surgery, or other medicines you take. Your care team may check your blood counts during treatment. Report any unusual or prolonged bleeding, swelling, or difficulty breathing straight away.
