Flur Eye Drops are used to prevent "miosis" (constriction of the pupil) during eye surgery and to reduce inflammation and pain after procedures like cataract removal. They help keep the eye comfortable and prevent the iris from becoming inflamed or stuck to other structures in the eye during the recovery phase.
These drops contain Flurbiprofen, an NSAID, and Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC), a lubricant, along with Phenylmercuric Nitrate, a preservative. Flurbiprofen stops the release of prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling, while HPMC acts as an artificial tear to keep the surface of the eye moist and protected from irritation.
Wash your hands and instill the drops into the pocket of the lower eyelid as directed by your surgeon. To maximize absorption, press gently on the corner of the eye (near the nose) for one minute after instilling. Do not wear contact lenses until your doctor confirms your eye has fully healed. Inform your doctor if you have a history of bleeding disorders or stomach ulcers.
