Calbona A Tablet 4 is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, in men at high risk of fractures, and in people at risk of bone loss, helping to reduce the risk of fractures.

Uses of Calbona A Tablet 4 are:

• Osteoporosis in Women: Treats osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
• Osteoporosis in Men: Manages bone weakness in men at high risk of fractures.
• Osteoporosis Prevention: Helps prevent bone loss in people at risk, including those on long-term steroids or with limited sun exposure.
• Fracture Risk: Helps reduce the risk of bone fractures.

Follow these instructions while taking Calbona A Tablet 4:

• Take this tablet with a full glass of plain water only.

• Swallow the tablet whole without crushing, chewing or sucking it.

• Take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

• Remain upright (sitting or standing) for at least 30 minutes after taking.

• Do not eat, drink, or take other medicines for at least 30 minutes after taking.

• Take this medicine once weekly on the same day each week.

• Consult your doctor if you have trouble swallowing or experience severe side effects.

Calbona A Tablet 4 contains two active ingredients that work together to improve bone health:

• Alendronate (70 mg): This component belongs to the bisphosphonate class and works by attaching to bone surfaces. It inhibits osteoclasts (cells that break down bone), which helps shift the balance towards bone formation rather than bone loss.

• Vitamin D3 (5600 IU): This essential vitamin enhances the absorption of calcium and phosphate from your intestines. It ensures there are adequate minerals available for bone formation and maintenance, while also directly influencing bone cells.

• Store Calbona A Tablet 4 in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.

• Keep the tablets in their original blister packaging until use.

• Avoid storing in bathrooms due to humidity.

• Always keep out of reach of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Dispose of expired medication according to local waste guidelines.

• Include calcium-rich foods in your diet (such as dairy products, leafy greens, and fortified foods) to support bone health and help the medicine work effectively.

• Perform weight-bearing exercises like walking, jogging, or resistance training at least 3-4 times weekly to strengthen bones and complement the bone-building effects of your medication.
