Atro Injection is used for the following:

• Managing an abnormally slow heart rhythm

• Emergency treatment during cardiac arrest

• Reducing excessive secretions before surgery

• Counteracting organophosphate insecticide poisoning

• Reversing the effects of neuromuscular blocking agents

• Treating carbamate pesticide poisoning

• Managing excessive salivation during procedures

• Decreasing bronchial secretions in surgical settings

• Restoring normal cardiac function in emergencies

• Supporting heart rate during specific medical interventions

Follow these instructions when Atro Injection is administered:

• This medicine must only be administered by qualified healthcare professionals.

• Ensure the injection site is properly cleaned before administration.

• When administered intravenously, the medicine should be given slowly.

• Proper aseptic technique must be used to prevent infection.

• The medicine should remain in its original packaging until ready for use.

Atro Injection is administered intravenously, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously.

Atro Injection contains atropine (0.6 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Muscarinic receptor blockade: Atropine competitively blocks muscarinic acetylcholine receptors throughout your body, preventing the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from binding to these receptors.

• Heart rate regulation: By blocking the vagal influence on the sinoatrial node (your heart's natural pacemaker), atropine increases heart rate, which helps manage bradycardia (abnormally slow heart rhythm).

• Secretion reduction: It inhibits the production of secretions in various glands, including those in your airways and digestive tract, leading to a drier mouth and respiratory passages.

• Smooth muscle relaxation: Atropine relaxes smooth muscles in various organs, including those in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary bladder, and airways.

• Store Atro Injection at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep the injection protected from light in its original packaging.

• Avoid freezing the injection as this can damage the solution.

• Store away from excessive heat and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• If you have been prescribed Atro Injection for managing bradycardia (abnormally slow heart rate), moderate physical activity like walking can help improve overall heart health when your condition stabilises.

• Avoid excessive caffeine intake, as it may interfere with your heart rhythm or interact with other medications or treatments.
