Aeroclav 200/28.5 Mg Suspension 30 Ml is a combination antibiotic used in children to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, teeth, bones and joints. It is a combination medicine containing amoxicillin (an antibiotic) and clavulanic acid (which protects amoxicillin from bacterial resistance), and belongs to a class of medicines called penicillin antibiotic and beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations.
This medicine works by amoxicillin killing the bacteria causing the infection, while clavulanic acid blocks the enzymes that resistant bacteria use to break amoxicillin down. It is commonly used for childhood ear, sinus and chest infections. Prepare the syrup by adding sterile water as directed, shake well before each use, and give the dose your child's doctor prescribes.
Give the dose based on your child's age and weight, and complete the full course even if your child feels better, to clear the infection fully and help prevent antibiotic resistance.
Before giving this medicine, tell your child's doctor if your child has a known allergy to penicillins or other antibiotics, or has liver or kidney problems. Contact your child's doctor promptly if your child develops a skin rash, hives or ongoing diarrhoea. This antibiotic works only against bacterial infections, not viral infections such as colds.
