Labetamap Injection 4ml is used for the following:

• Managing hypertensive emergencies

• Managing pre-eclampsia and eclampsia

• Controlling perioperative hypertension

• Lowering blood pressure in surgical procedures

• Regulating blood pressure in intensive care

• Managing hypertension when oral medicines aren't suitable

• Providing rapid blood pressure reduction

• Maintaining uteroplacental blood flow during pregnancy

Follow these instructions when Labetamap Injection 4ml is administered:

• This medication should only be administered by healthcare professionals in a hospital setting.

• The injection can be given as a slow injection into a vein over 2 minutes.

• It may also be diluted and given as a continuous infusion.

• Your blood pressure and heart rate will be monitored continuously during administration.

• Monitor the injection site for any signs of local reaction such as redness, swelling, or pain.

• Do not change positions suddenly after receiving this medicine.

• Consult your doctor if you have any concerns during treatment.

Labetamap Injection 4ml is administered intravenously.

Labetamap Injection 4ml contains labetalol (5 mg/mL), which works on the body as follows:

• Alpha-1 receptor blockade: Labetalol blocks alpha-1 receptors in your blood vessels, causing them to relax and widen, which reduces resistance to blood flow and lowers blood pressure.

• Beta receptor blockade: It blocks beta receptors in your heart, reducing heart rate and the force of heart contractions, which contributes to lowering blood pressure.

• Combined action: The dual blocking effect on both alpha and beta receptors results in decreased peripheral vascular resistance and reduced cardiac output, providing effective blood pressure reduction without causing reflex tachycardia.

• Rapid onset: When administered intravenously, labetalol begins to take effect within 2-5 minutes, with peak effects occurring at 5-15 minutes, making it suitable for emergency use.

• Store Labetamap Injection 4ml at room temperature.

• Protect vials from light and do not freeze.

• Once opened or diluted, use within 24 hours.

• Store all medicines out of sight and reach of children.

• Check the expiry date and do not use this medicine after it has expired.

• Follow a low-sodium diet by avoiding processed foods, canned soups, and table salt to help manage high blood pressure (hypertension) more effectively alongside your medication.

• Engage in regular, gentle physical activity like walking or swimming (with your doctor's approval) to improve blood circulation and support healthy blood pressure levels.
