Age and Dose Restrictions

• This combination is intended to be used by adults only.

Contraindications

• This combination is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to domperidone or esomeprazole or any other proton pump inhibitor medicines.

Medications to Avoid with This Drug

• Avoid taking anticoagulants (clopidogrel and warfarin), immunosuppressants (methotrexate and tacrolimus), antifungals (ketoconazole and voriconazole), antibiotics (erythromycin, clarithromycin, rifampin and telithromycin), antiarrhythmics (amiodarone, dronedarone, and quinidine), antipsychotics (haloperidol, pimozide, and sertindole), antidepressants (citalopram and escitalopram), other gastrointestinal medications (cisapride, dolasetron, and prucalopride). These medications may alter the safety and effectiveness of this combination.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose of Domperidone + Esomeprazole may cause symptoms such as drowsiness, irregular heartbeat, or stomach discomfort. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
• If you miss a dose of Domperidone + Esomeprazole, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Management of Side Effects

• Take this combination with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects and continue taking it as prescribed. If side effects worsen or persist, consult your doctor for a possible treatment plan adjustment.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

• Taking this combination can make you feel dizzy. It is not recommended to drive, operate machinery, or do other activities requiring mental alertness or coordination after this combination. 

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Caution is advised while taking this combination during pregnancy. This combination is not recommended during breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Caution is advised in older adults and patients with heart conditions, bone fractures, hypomagnesemia, gastrointestinal haemorrhage, prolactin-releasing pituitary tumour (prolactinoma) and severe liver impairment.

Special Dietary & Lifestyle Recommendation

• This combination is typically recommended for short-term use to manage GERD symptoms. The prolonged use of this combination should not be done without consulting a doctor.
• Avoid alcohol, as drinking alcohol makes your stomach produce more acid than usual. It can irritate your stomach lining and make your symptoms worse.
• Long-term use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like esomeprazole may be associated with a risk of decreased calcium absorption. Ensure an adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D, either through diet or supplements, under the guidance of your doctor.
• Avoid rushing through meals, and take your time to enjoy and properly digest your food.
• Finish your last meal or snack at least two to three hours before bed. It allows the stomach to empty partially, reducing the likelihood of acid reflux while lying down.
• Eat smaller, frequent meals instead of large meals. It helps reduce the amount of food in the stomach, decreasing the likelihood of acid reflux.
