• Cinnarizine + Domperidone is available as tablet, capsule and syrup, for oral administration.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is for adults. Its safety and effectiveness in children have not been established.

Contraindications

• This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cinnarizine or domperidone, and with conditions such as pheochromocytoma (tumour of the adrenal gland), prolactinoma (pituitary gland tumour), gastrointestinal bleeding, perforation, or mechanical obstruction, and moderate to severe hepatic impairment.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with central nervous system depressants (such as alcohol, benzodiazepines like diazepam, and opioids like morphine), anticholinergic agents (such as atropine and scopolamine), dopamine agonists (like levodopa and bromocriptine), substances that inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes (such as ketoconazole and erythromycin), and other medications that prolong the QT interval, such as certain antiarrhythmics (like amiodarone) and antipsychotics (like haloperidol).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose may result in severe drowsiness, confusion, irregular heart rhythms, or uncontrollable movements. Immediately consult your doctor if you suspect an overdose.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double-dose to make up for a missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience severe side effects or worsening symptoms, consult your doctor.

• For dry mouth, sip water regularly or use sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva production.
• For drowsiness, consider taking the medicine at a time when you can rest afterwards, to ensure safety.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This medicine may impair your alertness due to potential side effects like drowsiness or sudden sleepiness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Cinnarizine + Domperidone should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding with caution and only if clearly necessary and prescribed by your doctor.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with liver or kidney disease should use Cinnarizine + Domperidone with caution. Domperidone should not be used in patients with moderate to severe liver disease, while the dose or dosing frequency may need to be adjusted by a doctor in patients with severe kidney disease. Elderly patients should also use it with caution.
• Patients with heart disease or heart rhythm problems should use Domperidone with particular caution, as it may increase the risk of serious heart rhythm disturbances.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• To manage nausea and vertigo with this medication, maintain a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins to stabilise overall health.
• Small, frequent meals might help mitigate nausea or fullness.
• Avoid high-fat foods, which can exacerbate digestive discomfort when experiencing gastritis symptoms.
