Moxifloxacin + Prednisolone

Uses of Moxifloxacin + Prednisolone

Moxifloxacin + Prednisolone is a combination eye drop used to treat bacterial eye infections and associated inflammation.

This combination is commonly used for:

• Bacterial eye infections: Clears infections of the eye caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Eye inflammation: Reduces redness, swelling, and discomfort associated with infection.
• Post-surgical eye care: Helps manage infection and inflammation following certain eye procedures, as advised by your doctor.

Side effects of Moxifloxacin + Prednisolone

  • Eye irritation

  • Discomfort or pain in the eye

  • Temporary blurred vision

  • Eyelid swelling

  • Headache

  • Bad taste in the mouth

How Moxifloxacin + Prednisolone works

Moxifloxacin + Prednisolone works through two separate actions that clear infection and reduce inflammation in the eye.

Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It blocks bacterial enzymes called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which bacteria need to replicate and repair their DNA. This stops the bacteria from growing and clears the infection.

Prednisolone is a corticosteroid. It reduces inflammation by blocking the production of substances in the body that cause redness and swelling.

Together, the combination treats the infection while easing the associated inflammation and discomfort.
