Beclometasone + Formoterol Fumarate

Dosage Forms Available

• Beclometasone + Formoterol Fumarate is available in the form of an aerosol inhaler or a dry powder inhaler (DPI).

• The aerosol inhaler contains a pressurised metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) and is used via the inhaled route.

• The DPI contains capsules of the medication in powder form, which are also administered by inhalation.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This combination medicine is intended for use in patients aged 18 years and older.

Contraindications

• Beclometasone + Formoterol Fumarate should not be used by patients who have a known severe allergy to either Beclometasone, Formoterol or any of the other ingredients present in the medication.

• Patients with a severe allergy to milk proteins should not use the dry powder capsules.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with other long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist medications (such as salmeterol and vilanterol), beta-blockers (like propranolol and timolol) and strong inhibitors of CYP3A4 enzymes (like ketoconazole, itraconazole and ritonavir).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose may cause palpitations, chest pain, a rapid heartbeat, tremor, and nervousness. Inform your doctor immediately if you suspect you have used more than the prescribed dose.

• If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help manage some side effects like dry mouth or throat irritation.

• Proper inhalation technique and rinsing your mouth after each use can help prevent local side effects like oral thrush and throat irritation.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Beclometasone + Formoterol Fumarate may cause dizziness or blurring of vision in some patients. If you experience such symptoms, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel fully alert.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• The use of Beclometasone + Formoterol Fumarate during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be discussed with your doctor, as the safety of this combination in these periods is not fully established.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with severe cardiovascular disorders, heart rhythm abnormalities, diabetes mellitus or thyroid disease should use Beclometasone + Formoterol Fumarate with caution and under medical supervision.
