Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is meant for adults and children above six months of age.

Contraindications

• The medication should not be used in individuals with the following conditions: known hypersensitivity to phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine maleate; those who have recently been treated with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors within the last 14 days; patients currently receiving other sympathomimetic drugs; individuals with cardiovascular disorders; those experiencing peripheral vascular insufficiency; patients diagnosed with hyperthyroidism or glaucoma; individuals with prostate issues, including hypertrophy; and those with pheochromocytoma. It is essential to avoid using this combination in these cases and seek alternative treatments under the guidance of a doctor.

Medications to Avoid with This Drug

• It is advised against using certain medications, including antihistamines such as cetirizine, fluticasone, and diphenhydramine, beta-Blockers and Other antihypertensives like debrisoquine, guanethidine, reserpine, and methyldopa, tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, ergot alkaloids like ergotamine and methylsergide, alcohol, hypnotics, anxiolytics, sedatives, opioid analgesics, and neuroleptics. Prior to taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, it is imperative to consult your doctor.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose may cause excessive drowsiness or, in some cases, restlessness, a rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, and dry mouth. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
• If you miss a dose of this combination, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Use Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Phenylephrine with caution in patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, heart disease (angina), peripheral vascular disease, increased intraocular pressure, hyperthyroidism, or prostatic hypertrophy. Avoid combining with other sympathomimetics to prevent potential adverse effects such as insomnia, nervousness, hyperpyrexia, tremors, and epileptiform convulsions.
