• This medicine is meant for adults only.

Contraindications

• Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to bisoprolol or hydrochlorothiazide, cardiogenic shock, severe bradycardia (very slow heartbeat), second or third degree heart block, sick sinus syndrome, severe heart failure, and anuria (inability to produce urine).

Other Medications to Avoid

• Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide may interact with other blood pressure medicines such as ACE inhibitors (e.g., lisinopril and captopril), angiotensin receptor blockers (e.g., losartan and azilsartan), calcium channel blockers (e.g., amlodipine and nicardipine), antiarrhythmic medications (e.g., amiodarone and quinidine), digoxin, clonidine, insulin or oral diabetes medicines (e.g., metformin and sitagliptin), lithium, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (e.g., ibuprofen and aspirin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone and hydrocortisone), cholestyramine or colestipol, and norepinephrine.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose of Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide may cause symptoms such as a very slow heartbeat, dizziness, low blood pressure, or excessive urination. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

• If you miss a dose of Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help manage some of the side effects, like dizziness and headache.

• Eating small meals more frequently instead of big meals can help manage nausea or upset stomach.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Breastfeeding while taking this medication is not recommended.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with heart problems, circulation disorders, breathing disorders, kidney or liver disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, gout, systemic lupus erythematosus, and those planning to have surgeries should exercise caution when taking Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide.

• Monitor your blood pressure regularly.

• Limit alcohol as it may worsen some side effects of Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide.

• Maintain a low-salt and low-fat diet to manage your blood pressure.
