Age and dose restrictions

• This combination is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. 

Contraindications

• Hydrochlorothiazide + Telmisartan is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to either ingredient, anuria (inability to produce urine), severe liver impairment, or in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Other medications to avoid

• Avoid using potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone), lithium, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac), other antihypertensives (enalapril, lisinopril), and certain antidiabetics (insulin, glipizide). These can interact with Hydrochlorothiazide + Telmisartan, potentially affecting its safety and efficacy.

Overdose and missed dose

• In case of overdose, symptoms such as extreme dizziness, dehydration, or severe hypotension may occur. Seek immediate medical attention. 
• If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If it’s near the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Management of side effects

• To manage dizziness or lightheadedness, rise slowly from a sitting or lying position. Ensure adequate hydration to avoid dehydration due to increased urination. If you experience signs of electrolyte imbalance (e.g., muscle cramps, weakness), consult your doctor immediately for possible dose adjustment or supplementation. Persistent side effects should be reported to your healthcare provider.

Use in driving and operating machinery

• This combination may cause dizziness or fatigue, affecting your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid engaging in these activities until you understand how the medicine affects you.

Use in pregnancy and lactation

• Hydrochlorothiazide + Telmisartan is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks to the fetus or infant. Consult your doctor for safer alternatives if you are pregnant or planning to conceive.

Caution in other conditions

• Caution is advised in patients with kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, electrolyte disturbances, or those with a history of gout. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels is recommended.

• Limit your salt intake and consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Stay hydrated and avoid excessive alcohol consumption.
