• This medicine is meant for adults and older adults.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with an allergy to Indapamide. It should not be used by individuals with severe kidney or liver impairment, anuria (the inability to produce urine), or electrolyte imbalances resistant to treatment, such as hypokalemia (low blood potassium) and hyponatremia (low blood sodium).

Other Medications to Avoid

• This medicine can interact with Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) (such as diclofenac and ibuprofen), Mood stabilizers (lithium), cardiac glycosides (such as digoxin), and corticosteroids (like prednisone, dexamethasone).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medication may lead to severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, low blood pressure, and circulatory collapse. In case of suspected overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
• If you forget to take a dose of Indapamide, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help combat fluid loss associated with diuretic action.
• Taking the medication in the morning can help reduce the inconvenience of frequent urination during the night.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Indapamide may cause dizziness or fatigue. If affected, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Indapamide should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before using this medicine during pregnancy. It is not recommended for use while breastfeeding unless necessary, and the benefits outweigh the risks.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with kidney impairment or liver disease need to exercise caution when taking this medicine.
• Caution is also advised in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus as this condition can be exacerbated by Indapamide.
