Dosage Forms Available

• Diastase + Papain is available for oral use in two main dosage formulations namely, tablets and capsules.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is meant for adults. For children aged 12 and above, the dose will be decided by the doctor.

Contraindications

• Diastase + Papain is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation, including Papain and Diastase.

• It is also contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulcers since the proteolytic enzymes may exacerbate the condition.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with blood thinners (such as warfarin), other digestive enzymes (such as bromelain), antacids (like magnesium hydroxide), and antibiotics (such as tetracyclines).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Overdose of Diastase + Papain may lead to excessive diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, or heartburn. In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately.

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time or extra doses.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• For mild side effects like diarrhoea and heartburn, ensure you stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

• If you experience nausea after taking the medication, try taking the medicine with a light meal or a small snack.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Diastase + Papain does not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, in the unlikely event that you experience any dizziness or fatigue, it is advised that you avoid such activities until the symptoms subside.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• The use of Diastase + Papain during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be done under the supervision of a doctor.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Caution is advised while using Diastase + Papain in patients with severe pancreatic insufficiency, as the enzymes may be ineffective.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Try to have regular meals at similar times each day, as it helps your digestive system become more predictable.

• Limit intake of foods that cause gas, such as beans, broccoli, onions, cucumber, cabbage, cauliflower, and carbonated drinks.
