It is commonly used for:

Musculoskeletal pain: Relieves pain from sprains, strains, back pain, and muscle aches.

Joint pain and arthritis: Reduces pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Dental pain: Eases toothache and pain following dental procedures.

Postoperative pain: Provides short-term pain relief following surgery.

Headache and migraine: Helps manage moderate headaches and migraine pain.

Acute gout: Reduces the pain and inflammation of a gout attack.

Side effects of Dexketoprofen

  • Abdominal pain

  • Constipation

  • Dizziness

  • Diarrhoea

  • Skin rash

How Dexketoprofen works

  • Dexketoprofen is the active S(+)-enantiomer of ketoprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). By isolating only the active form of the molecule, Dexketoprofen provides effective pain relief.
  • It works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes that are responsible for producing prostaglandins, the chemical mediators that sensitise pain receptors, cause inflammation, and contribute to fever. By reducing prostaglandin synthesis, Dexketoprofen decreases pain perception at the site of injury or inflammation and reduces swelling and redness.
