Dosage forms available

• This combination is available in effervescent powder, tablets, or granules, which are dissolved in water before consumption. 

Age and dose restrictions

• It is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age unless prescribed by a doctor. 

Contraindications

• This combination is contraindicated in individuals with severe kidney disease, sodium-restricted diets, high blood pressure, or metabolic alkalosis. It should not be used by patients with severe heart failure or those with a history of allergy to any of the components.

Other medications to avoid

• Avoid taking this combination with certain antibiotics (tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones), corticosteroids, diuretics (furosemide), antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, and aspirin. These medications may interact and reduce effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects. Always inform your doctor about any other medicines you are taking.

Overdose and missed dose

• Overdose may cause metabolic alkalosis, leading to symptoms like confusion, muscle twitching, vomiting, and irregular heartbeat. If overdose symptoms occur, seek immediate medical attention. 
• If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. However, if the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and continue the regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Management of side effects

• To minimise bloating and belching, take the medication as directed with a sufficient amount of water. If stomach discomfort or diarrhea occurs, consider taking it after meals instead of on an empty stomach. In case of excessive thirst or unusual swelling of the hands and feet, consult your doctor to check for sodium overload.

Use in driving and operating machinery

• This combination does not usually impair mental alertness. However, if dizziness or lightheadedness occurs, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel normal.

Use in pregnancy and lactation

• Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be done with caution and only under medical supervision. High sodium intake may lead to fluid retention, which can be harmful during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or nursing.

Caution in other conditions

• Patients with hypertension, kidney disease, congestive heart failure, or edema should use this combination cautiously, as it contains sodium, which may worsen these conditions. Those on a low-sodium diet should consult their doctor before using this medication.

Special dietary and lifestyle recommendations

• Limit foods high in acid, such as citrus fruits, spicy foods, and caffeine, to prevent acid reflux.
• Drink plenty of water to aid digestion and prevent kidney stone formation.
• Avoid excessive salt intake to reduce sodium-related complications.
• Maintain a healthy weight, as obesity can increase acid reflux symptoms.
• Avoid alcohol and smoking, as they can worsen acidity and digestive issues.
