R-Fsh

Uses of R-Fsh

  • R-Fsh is used to manage infertility in both men and women. It belongs to the class of medicines known as gonadotropins.
  • In women, R-Fsh is used to stimulate the development and release of eggs from the ovaries, particularly in cases involving assisted reproductive technologies like in-vitro fertilisation. For men diagnosed with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, R-Fsh is used to stimulate sperm production.

Side effects of R-Fsh

  • Abdominal pain or bloating
  • Mood changes
  • Headache
  • Injection site reactions
  • Nausea or vomiting

How R-Fsh works

  • R-Fsh is a recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone. It acts by binding to the FSH receptors in the ovaries, just like the body's own FSH. This stimulates the growth and maturity of ovarian follicles, which are small pockets in the ovaries that contain eggs.

No, It’s not typically associated with effects on appetite, R-Fsh mimics the effects of natural follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which plays a crucial role in both female and male reproductive functions.

No known natural alternative provides the same effects as this medicine.

No, R-Fsh is not a steroid. It’s a type of hormone used in fertility treatments and is a synthetic version of the naturally occurring follicle-stimulating hormone.

R-Fsh, or Recombinant Follicle Stimulating Hormone, is identical in structure and function to the endogenous FSH produced by our body. However, it is synthesised using recombinant DNA technology, ensuring high purity and consistency across batches, unlike earlier FSH preparations derived from urine.

The length of R-Fsh treatment is based on individual response. The progress of the treatment is closely monitored via transvaginal ultrasound and serum estrogen levels to prevent potential complications.

Coverage for infertility treatments such as R-Fsh varies between insurance providers and plans. It would be prudent to check with your insurance provider for the specifics of your policy. Some insurance plans may require prior authorisation or impose lifetime limits on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) cycles.
