• Prulifloxacin is available for use via the oral route (tablets). It is also available in formulations suitable for intravenous administration for use in hospital settings.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• Prulifloxacin is meant for adults.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Prulifloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics. It should not be used in patients with epilepsy or other seizure disorders.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Prulifloxacin may interact with antacids (such as aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide), iron supplements, multivitamins containing zinc, anticoagulants (such as warfarin and heparin), and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen and naproxen).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose of Prulifloxacin may cause nausea, dizziness, and headache. In rare cases, seizures may occur. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

• If you miss a dose of Prulifloxacin, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose. Completing the full prescribed course is important to prevent the infection from returning or becoming resistant to antibiotics.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• For mild nausea or stomach upset, try taking this medicine with or after a meal.

• Drinking plenty of water may help to relieve side effects like dry mouth and thirst.

• If you're experiencing dizziness or light-headedness, it may help to lie down and rest.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Prulifloxacin may cause dizziness or light-headedness in some patients. If you experience these symptoms, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel better.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It is advised to consult your doctor before using Prulifloxacin during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with kidney impairment or liver disease should exercise caution when taking Prulifloxacin. Your doctor may adjust your dose based on the severity of your condition.

• Drinking plenty of fluids can help prevent dehydration, a common risk factor for urinary tract infections which are often treated with Prulifloxacin.

• Regularly emptying the bladder, and not holding urine for long periods of time, can help prevent urinary tract infections.

• Maintaining good personal hygiene can help reduce the risk of skin and soft tissue infections.
