Contraindications

• Pegfilgrastim is contraindicated in patients with known severe allergic reactions to filgrastim or pegfilgrastim. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of splenic rupture, adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), glomerulonephritis (a type of kidney inflammation), leukocytosis (high white blood cell count), thrombocytopenia, or capillary leak syndrome.

Other Medications to Avoid

• No formal medication interactions have been identified, but Pegfilgrastim may increase the myeloproliferative effects of medicine like lithium.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• If an overdose of Pegfilgrastim occurs, white blood cell counts should be closely monitored, and general supportive measures should be initiated as needed.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and proceed with your regular schedule.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It should only be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. Caution is exercised when using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with sickle cell disorders should use Pegfilgrastim with caution, as it may increase the risk of a sickle cell crisis.
• Caution should be exercised regarding its use in patients with severe renal impairment or hepatic impairment.

• Adequate rest is essential for recovery from illness and to counteract fatigue associated with chemotherapy. Ensure you get enough sleep every night.
