Dosage Forms Available

• Lasmiditan is available for oral use as film-coated tablets.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is meant for adults. The safety and effectiveness of lasmiditan in children and adolescents have not been established.

Contraindications

• Lasmiditan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lasmiditan or any of the ingredients of this medicine.

Other Medications to Avoid With This Medicine

• Lasmiditan may interact with antidepressants (such as sertraline, fluoxetine, and amitriptyline), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (such as phenelzine and selegiline), heart rate-lowering medicines (such as propranolol and metoprolol), and central nervous system depressants (such as alprazolam and diazepam).
• Alcohol and herbal supplements that affect serotonin levels (such as St. John’s Wort) may increase the risk of side effects with this medicine.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medicine may cause severe dizziness, excessive sleepiness, fatigue, numbness, or worsening side effects. If you experience these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately and follow the advice accordingly.
• Lasmiditan is taken only when needed for a migraine attack. If you forget to take it at the onset of symptoms, take it as soon as possible during the attack, as advised by your doctor.

Management of Side Effects

• Most side effects are temporary, generally harmless, and resolve over time. However, if you experience severe dizziness, irregular heartbeat, breathing difficulty, or worsening symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.
• Resting in a quiet and dimly lit room may help reduce discomfort during a migraine attack.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Lasmiditan may significantly impair driving ability and mental alertness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or engage in activities requiring mental alertness for at least 8 hours after taking this medicine, even if you feel well enough to do so.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• This medicine should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if advised by your doctor.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Caution is advised in patients with liver disease, slow heart rate, heart rhythm problems, risk of central nervous system depression, serotonin syndrome, medication overuse headache, a history of medicine misuse or abuse, and in older adults.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Maintain a regular sleep schedule, as lack of sleep may trigger migraine attacks in some individuals.
• Avoid known migraine triggers such as excessive caffeine, alcohol, strong smells, bright lights, or skipped meals if they worsen symptoms.
• Maintain proper hydration throughout the day, as dehydration may trigger headaches in some individuals.
• Practise stress management techniques such as yoga, meditation, or relaxation exercises, as stress may contribute to migraine attacks.
