Dosage Forms Available

• Ilaprazole can be taken orally (enteric-coated tablet).

Age and Dose Restrictions

• Ilaprazole is meant for use by adults aged 18 and above.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to Ilaprazole or any other proton pump inhibitors.

• Patients with severe liver disease should avoid taking Ilaprazole.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Ilaprazole may interact with macrolide antibiotics (such as clarithromycin), azole antifungals (like ketoconazole), antiretrovirals (such as nelfinavir) and blood thinners (such as warfarin).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose of Ilaprazole may cause symptoms such as dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, headache, and in some cases, a rapid heartbeat. If you suspect an overdose, stop taking the medicine and seek medical attention promptly.

• If you miss a dose of Ilaprazole, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time to compensate for a missed one. Ilaprazole is best taken before a meal, as directed by your doctor.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help alleviate common side effects such as dry mouth and constipation.

• Avoid lying down immediately after taking this medicine to prevent symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Ilaprazole may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some individuals. If this occurs, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Always consult your doctor before using this medication if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with liver disease should use Ilaprazole with caution as it is metabolised by the liver. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose accordingly.

• Caution is also advised in patients with osteoporosis due to the potential risk of bone fractures with long-term use of proton pump inhibitors.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• It is advisable to maintain a regular meal schedule and avoid skipping meals as it can exacerbate stomach acid problems.

• Avoid consumption of caffeine, and spicy foods as these can aggravate acid-related conditions.
