How Etizolam works

Etizolam is a sedative-hypnotic medicine that acts on the brain to produce a calming effect.

It works by enhancing the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a natural chemical in the brain that reduces nerve cell activity.

By increasing GABA activity, Etizolam produces a sedative, anti-anxiety, and muscle-relaxant effect. This helps calm excessive brain activity, easing symptoms of anxiety, panic, and difficulty sleeping.

Disease/Condition Glossary

  • Short-term anxiety is a temporary emotional state marked by nervousness, restlessness, or fear in response to specific situations such as exams, public speaking, or unfamiliar environments. Symptoms can include a racing heart, sweating, trouble sleeping, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. It is often triggered by stress, life changes, or pressure to perform. While it usually subsides on its own once the stressor is removed, short-term anxiety can still be distressing. Management involves relaxation techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, and light exercise. In some cases, short-term use of anti-anxiety medication may be prescribed under medical supervision. Staying organised, speaking to a trusted person, and taking breaks during stressful tasks can significantly ease short-term anxiety.
