Age and Dose Restrictions

• Chlorpromazine + Trihexyphenidyl is typically prescribed for adults above the age of 18 years.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to either chlorpromazine or trihexyphenidyl or any of the components of the formulation.

• It is also contraindicated in patients with conditions such as comatose states, severe central nervous system depression, certain blood dyscrasias, narrow-angle glaucoma, severe liver or kidney impairment and bone marrow suppression.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Chlorpromazine + Trihexyphenidyl may interact with central nervous system depressants (such as phenobarbital), anticholinergics (like atropine and scopolamine), tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline and imipramine) and antihypertensives (like lisinopril and amlodipine).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose may cause drowsiness, confusion, agitation, severe dizziness, fast or irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, seizures, muscle spasms, dry mouth, blurred vision, difficulty passing urine, or loss of consciousness. Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect an overdose.

• If you miss a dose of Chlorpromazine + Trihexyphenidyl, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• If the medication causes dry mouth, drink plenty of water or chew sugarless gum to stimulate saliva production.

• If you experience drowsiness or dizziness, ensure that you are well-rested before performing activities that require alertness.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Chlorpromazine + Trihexyphenidyl may cause drowsiness and impair your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery. Avoid these activities if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking this medication.
