• Respiratory tract infections: Treats bacterial infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis affecting the lungs and airways.
• Skin and soft tissue infections: Treats bacterial infections of the skin and underlying tissue caused by susceptible bacteria.

How Balofloxacin works

Balofloxacin works by stopping bacteria from being able to copy and repair their DNA.

Balofloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. It works by blocking enzymes called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which bacteria need to copy and repair their genetic material.

Without these enzymes functioning properly, bacteria cannot multiply or maintain their DNA structure, which leads to their death.

Balofloxacin has broad-spectrum activity, meaning it is effective against a wide range of both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, making it useful for treating susceptible bacterial infections in different parts of the body.

Overdose and Missed Dose

  • Taking more than the prescribed dose of Balofloxacin may cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, or in severe cases, seizures. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
