Dr. Kunal Wani

Dr. Kunal Wani completed his MBBS from K.J. Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai, and subsequently built a career at the intersection of clinical medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, and digital healthcare. He went on to earn an MBA in Global Management and Marketing from Thunderbird School of Global Management, equipping him with a unique lens that bridges medical expertise with healthcare strategy. He gained hands-on experience across several leading pharmaceutical organisations, including roles as a Medical Science Liaison at Boehringer Ingelheim, followed by positions at UCB and Panacea Biotec Ltd, where he oversaw medical services and brand management. He subsequently joined Abbott, where he led digital and knowledge initiatives as Chief Manager before being elevated to Senior Manager of Digital Innovation.

In 2019, Dr. Kunal co-founded Truemeds, a platform that offers clinically equivalent substitutes to branded medicines at significantly lower prices, with a particular focus on patients managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. His founding vision was rooted in his clinical background: ensuring that every patient, regardless of geography or income, has access to safe, affordable, and high-quality medication.

A firm believer in the democratisation of healthcare, he advocates for a future where quality medicines are accessible to every Indian, regardless of economic background. His philosophy closely aligns with the spirit of the Jan Aushadhi initiative making affordable, generic medicines the norm rather than the exception.
